Whether you are training, researching or want to reminisce about Spain's Camino del Santiago, you will be at home during our Taste of the Camino Weekend.
Spend a weekend in the northern reaches of the Texas Hill Country to reminisce about, or find out what two nights on Spain’s Camino de Santiago can be like! You are in for a weekend of fun, feeling, nature, and sharing the experience of walking Spain’s renowned Camino de Santiago, as seen in the movie The Way. As a weekend 'peregrino' you will get to meet others who have been on the Camino and are eager to share their experience.
This is a chance to see how it might feel to grab your backpack and travel by foot along the Camino by hiking the private trails on High Hope Ranch. During our group dinners you’ll hear stories and get to ask questions about other people’s adventures along the Camino.
Taste of the Camino is limited to 30 people, and by reservation only. Accommodations will be similar to the sleeping spaces for peregrinos on the Camino, hostels called albergues or refugios. Many albergues on the Camino are more than a thousand years old and may have been a convent, hospital, or monastery which can house 80 pilgrims per room. Our albergues are more remote and private! Upgrades are also available in our three Casas Locales with private rooms, and/or futons for an extra charge.
Hospitalarios (hosts at the albergues and volunteers along the Camino) will make your stay and meals extra special. The package price includes two evening pilgrims’ meals, two trail breakfasts, and two Camino style grab-and-go lunches. We will have special rest stops set up while you are hiking.
Prices start at $350 per person, use the extra early bird discount before January 15th and register for just $300. Participants will receive a registration packet with more information!
Friday sign-in begins at 3:00 for those who can get away from the city early and hike. Registration will move to the dinner and Friday albergue site at 5:30 pm. Closing ceremony will be Sunday around 1:00 PM, with a 20-minute walk from the closing site back to the cars! Maps with alternate routes, planning notes and other information will be provided. Join us for a Buen Camino!
